Helpful consumer’s review
I bought the Ixus 950 IS as its now so difficult to travel abroad with my digital SLR (one hand bag and all). I was especially attracted by the image stabilisation as camera shake was a big problem on my old Sony compact. c.500 shots later I’m really impressed, in the right conditions (good light, outdoors) picture quality really can rival my EOS 350.
A word of warning on battery – for some strange reason there doesn’t seem to be a battery life indicator and I have been caught out with a flat battery twice. Battery life is good and it charges quickly, but if you are shooting a lot of pictures in a day get one or more spare batteries. This is a bit annoying as it was bought to be compact you then have to carry around a spare battery pack as well, which doesn’t fit in the case.
But overall a good solid compact and at the current price an absolute bargain!
