Helpful consumer’s review
I’m a professional photographer, and I’m critical about the gear I buy. Having had a fairly bad start with another company’s DSLR I was apprehensive about spending £2,500 or so on the D2X. I needn’t have worried.
The camera has a list of features a mile long, but that alone doesn’t make for a great camera. I need a camera to handle well, and this one handles superbly. At first sight, the controls, particularly those on the back, look daunting. Use it a few times, though and they switly become familiar. One niggle I have is the persistent Nikon habit of mounting the control for the metering mode on the side of the pentaprism. That aside the camera has an intuitive set of controls, logically arranged. It balances well in the hand, even with telephoto lenses attached. It isn’t a lightweight camera and I found myself invesiting in an Optech strap fairly quickly.
Early models were criticised for producing “soft” images. It is quite possible to create such an image, but that’s down to poor user technique allowing the image slightly to blur. This aside, the D2X produces clear, crisp images with accurate colour rendering and minimal noise [especially at lower ISO settings].
The camera is aimed squarely at the professional market, but priced at the very top end of the enthusiast range. This is not a camera for first time digital users-the sheer range of features make it a little complex for a first-timer. If you are an existing DSLR user looking to move up to a high quality camera, you will find this to be a high quality instrument that will satisfy your needs for the foreseeable future. In short-if in doubt, buy it. First timer? Try the Nikon D70s for a while before deciding on the D2X. Good luck!

  • Kevin: That doesn't even address the poor driver. It doesn't and kodak has no plans to support linux and block developers from working on one due to copyrig
  • printercartridgesupplies: Great all-in-one printer from other printers because of its advance features.
  • printercartridgesupplies: This epson printer features best fits offices. I wasn't surprised it offers better quality prints and is also a faster printer.
