I am a keen photographer however i also like to ski and surf. I faced a problem in that i wanted to capture pictures and film of my hobbies without fear of breaking my camera. Upon checking the market i found my options were limited as at first all i could find was the Sanyo, Panasonic and Olympus waterproof models. However all 3 of these lacked the optical zoom/ megapixels i required. It wasn’t until i was in the airport going on holiday that i found the Pentax W60. I was initially drawn to the 5 x optical zoom, 10 mega pixels and waterproof down to 13 feet.
I bought the camera there and then and i have to say that it has really impressed me since then. I have been on 2 skiing trips in the last 3 weeks and the camera has faced not only altitudes over 3500 meters but also temperatures of -25 degrees c and it has performed excellently. The pictures taken are excellent and the movie footage is clearer than my expensive lumix camera.
I haven’t tried the camera out in the water yet however it has been buried in the snow and still works fine.
The camera is small and extremely lightweight. The battery lasts for ages and it comes with all the menu options of a more expensive camera. I simply bought a scan disk extreme 4 gig memory card from amazon and i have the perfect package.
Prior to buying the camera i had never heard of Pentax however i would now recommend this camera to everyone who needs a quality all action take anywhere camera. I don’t think you can buy a better camera for the money.
