Helpful consumer’s review
Having used an older dvd camcorder by Samsung at work, I looked around for one to have for the holidays. This camcorder has been great. The instruction manual is detailed, but we’ve been using it as a ‘point and film’ so have yet to play around with all the specialist applications.
Recording direct to dvd is fine, BUT BEWARE it takes a few minutes to shut down when you want to stop. Have found recording to the internal memory and then selecting clips to copy to dvd is the best way. It is more instant for the capture of events and switches off quicker this way. Have yet to utilise the memory card feature- haven’t needed to!
Not certain about using the PC to create ‘epic movies’- have yet to figure it out. But, that’s not why we bought this camcorder- being able to record, then copy to disc on the camera has been so much less hassle and more immediate than running DV through an editing programme then burning to disc!!
Overall, we’re delighted with what this camcorder can do. Kids find it easy to use, especially with it’s instant replay being so simple to access- no need to fiddle about rewinding tape then recording over the best bits of your holiday! The info provided by Amazon was spot on, not disappointed at all- great fun for a reasonable price.
