Surprisingly good results considering the price. At ISO < 200 SLR like picture with sharp images, excellent colour rendition and superb dynamic range (ability to differentiate different shades of light). 24mm lens a real boon. Manual controls a bonus. At ISO over 400 picture loses resolution and colours not as good, but not too noisy. Flash gives very good results, but range limited at mid to max zoom. The 720p HD video with full range stereo sound is amazing. Like the stills, sharp with vivid colours in good light. Video a bit grainy in low light. 10x optical zoom can be used in video, although can be heard. It records in H.264 at 10MBits/s. Use TMPGEnc software to edit for best results.
So to sum up, a superb camera and very good camcorder that fits in most pockets. You can leave your camcorder at home, provided you do not plan to take video in very low light. Great for the summer holidays. Samsung have a Panasonic TZ series killer here due to the price and wide angle lens. A well known independent consumers' association gave this model a "Best Buy" and "Exceptional Value" ratings.
